So Ameenah and I have decided to change our film focus to police brutality insted of youth culture. We really wanted to use a song that would make the visuals pop more. Our choice of song is ” Beat it” by Micheal Jackson. We will be using this song because the lyrics portray images of fighting but people probably don’t connect beat it with olice brutality. The mood would be serious but ironic at the same time because the music is on the upbeat side of things. We believe this film would be more critical of the abuses people face and would spark more thought than our previous idea would have.
My new ideas
well, its no longer going to be about “at risk youth”. its seems that our ideas keep changing and changing.
so our new idea/topic is about police brutailty. we’re going to have clips/pictures of testimonies, abuse, and the police. I think its going to be very interesting because we’re using the song “Beat it” by Michael Jackson.
What I thought about yesterday..
Yesterday we learned a lot about taking stuff from off the web and converting it in other forms.. I think that the media conversion tools are awesome. These tools could basically help anyone looking to convert any form of audio or video. wikipedia/creative commons our great to because they don’t just give you a picture, they also give you information on how/ or what why you should use the picture. this creates no confusion between one another.
Aaisha’s first ideas
I have chosen a few songs to make a remix video with. But one that i’m leaning towards with, is a song that me and Ameenah had wrote a year ago. It talk’s about how the world sees us youth as trouble makers. One thought of creating it would be to illustrate the words of the song, sense the music is already a remix of a jay z song. because the song is serious, I think it is important to have real images of what the song is talking about. The people that I’m trying to target are adults because their generation sees us youth, as ” bad “. If i we’re to critique this song it would be that youth aren’t always how the media portraits them to be.

What i have learned so far from being in FURI, is that you can use different clips from TV shows, movies and any other ad’s to create a new message about what your standing for or against.
