The source material includes the song Less Talk More Rock cut to video from YouTUbe of Bush, Cheney and other Republican officials responsible for the Iraq War atrocities. Documentaries about the Iraq War and the Palestenian conflicts are used to contrast the indifference of politicians to the suffering of the people in the Middle East.

This Political Remix Video is a critical, satirical and transformative work that constitutes a Fair Use in accordance with Title 17 U.S.C. Section 107.

Making Progress

I’ve begun editing my piece after laying down the music track in Final Cut yesterday. It took a while to download all the various apps that are neccessary to rip, convert, and process footage from YouTube, and then importing, chopping, and orgainizing that footage. I have the introduction completed with plenty of footage of our nations leaders goofing off and large collection of video of the military in action. What I’m missing is footage of the people and cities of Iraq as well as footage of protests and riots from the Middle East. I hope to collect most of that tomorrow and get into the arduous process of syching video and music. it will require massive amounts of very quick cut since the music (which can be seen at http://youtube.com/watch?v=BVIhIc_DfaM) has a very rapid pace. If I can pull off all 4 minutes of it I will be very pleased but I may have to cut some of the faster sections since it can become ridiculous to edit. I’m very excited to see it taking form now and so far it’s mirroring the images in my brain when I concieved it. Please feel free to comment with a link if you have any suggestions for footage I could or should use.

My name is Zane and I’m 17 years old. I’m going to be a senior at Evanston Township High School. I participated in YouthLAB 2007 as a student and I am now participating in YouthLAB 2008 as a student and peer leader. I hope to make remixes that address global corporatism and the biases and innaccuracies from news outlets such as Fox. I also want to use remix in my work for social and enviromental justice.
